IF YOU HEARD 9/11 WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN AND DID NOTHING TO TRYAND PREVENT IT, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL? IF YOU CLICK ONTO A FIVE YEAR OLD ARTICLE OF MINE THAT SUDDENLY IS GETTING HUNDREDS OF HITS, AND SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE…YOU’LL FIND COMMENTS BY PEOPLE WHO DON’T KNOW HOW TO WRITE VERY WELL ENGLISH, TALKING TO EACH OTHER IN SOME KIND OF CODE.
When Sunny Smith a/k/a Sunny Monday, told me that she went to read an article I wrote some time ago about a mutual friend of ours Sissy Spacek, whom I discovered Sunny wrote me, ” Artie, What’s happened to your site? Who is product? Who is joe mignogna? I looked at the 50 comments that were made at the bottom of my article and realized that something very serious was possibly going on…i just didn’t know what! Then I saw a show on CNN on how rebels were able to bring down the Egyptian gorvrnment by using coded messages to each other on FACEBOOK and TWITTER and I figured out what all of this all might mean!
When my computer crashed and I wasn’t able to warn anybody about what I stumbled across, i contacted my friends Trade Martin, Hunter George, and Sharon Link to contact my FACEBOOK FRIENDS in my name about the possible threat to America.

The first person to respond was Antoinette Butrico-Gino, who contacted the FBI and Homeland Security who gave her a number and said she’d be contacted. It’s been 48 hours and no one has tried to reach her. Then I got a comment from someone who thought I was trying to plug something, as well as someone else I’ve known for over 40 years, who wrote, “ Artie, sorry I had to take this post down. Nudity and the stupidity of The Lennon nude period just can’t be tolerated at a Family friendly Facebook page.”
Obviously missing the point of the possible danger as well as foolishly calling it ” a Family friendly FACEBOOK page”, I wrote him back, “Your ignorence is astonishing…I just unfriended you”
Then after reading a few more comments, I realized that perhaps I should make my suspicions a little clearer…

Okay, here is the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
I was busy at the computer when I open an email from “AOL” saying that it is URGENT that I update my account with them to continue getting emails.
That was enough to get my attention and I replied to the email giving my account name and “Password”. Yes, I gave my password.
Now, I’ve heard of a lot of scams and thought they would never get to me. After I filled out the page asking for my password, I pressed “continue” and on the next page they were asking me to update all my info……including credit card info, date of birth, etc.
Now, I am proud to say, I was now concerned and suspicious and thought that I would talk to my Webmaster first before I gave information (which I don’t like to do anyhow). No more than 10 minutes later, I started getting returned emails - emails were being returned to my site that no longer worked when they hacked my whole email list.
I changed my “password”……and, I guess good comes out of everything. As I have heard from people I haven’t seen or talked to in years! And, I had the pleasure of reassuring the men in my life that I know that they are all “Studs” and really didn’t need the Viagra! – I’ve been hacked!!!
My friend later informed me that the “URL” address must always contain an “s” meaning that it is a “secure” site.

Artie, what in the world is going on with this blog???
This used to be a blog filled with interesting stories about the good old days of the music business But, for the last year or so, it has morphed into an endless parade of conspiracy theories, charity appeals, sales pitches for the the blog author’s book,”re-purposed” stories and rants of all sorts
For the last month or two, new posts have included portions of several prior posts. The fonts and layout of the blog are now inconsistent and the blog is, visually, a mess. It is getting harder and harder to follow what Artie is trying to say or do, since the content of this blog is now filled with complaints, appeals and stories about his medical condition. Nearly all of the music business stories that still get posted are written by others.
I’m really not trying to be critical. I’m just trying to figure out what exactly this blog’s agenda has become. Maybe it’s just that Artie has run out of stories from the sixties and seventies and is now using this blog to raise money or promote his own causes.
I sympathize with Artie’s medical and financial problems. But, reading about them over and over has become boring, espcially when they keep getting re-posted over and over again.
This blog is a mess now. I sure hope it gets better, and soon…..

Wow, Artie……I never expected such a defensive and paranoid esponse to what was just an honest comment about the content of your blog. Writing your response in all UPPERCASE letters indicates you were “yelling at me” and were very angry.
I have to say that I was amused how your hostile tirade included a list of sarcastic “apologies” that read like a press release! I had to laugh when I read your “subtle reminder” that you have been offering all your content “for free.” But my jaw dropped to the floor when, following your mention of Death Panels and Nazis, out sprung yet ANOTHER plug for your book…..which included the price and a link to order it directly! It was like reading the transcript from a talk show when a guest is appearing to promote a new book or movie, and tries to slip in the title at every opportunity.
As hurt as I was by your attempts to humiliate and belittle me, I was very pleased that you took my comments to heart, as demonstrated by the fact that you finally corrected the numerous “repeats” of previously posted stories that I made reference to (which made navigating your blog posts so difficult lately). So, rather than “apologizing” for posting all the stories about all the stars you met back in the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s, and offering your book to all your Facebook friends (insert title and ordering information here), it might have been more appropriate to apologize for the recurring format problems I addressed in my comment and thanked me for calling it to your attention. This would have shown humility, appreciation of your readers and, in a word, class.
Instead, you chose to use your blog as a “bully-pulpit” to lash out and disrespect a loyal reader of many years and, even worse, use that reader’s comment as a vehicle to illicit sympathy and further promote sales of your book (insert the title and ordering information again here). I think we’ve just experienced the “darker side” of Artie Wayne….
You mentioned you changed the name of your “column” (which I assume is this blog, unless the content here is published elsewhere as a column as well). But ithe blog is still titled “Artie Wayne On The Web” (on my browser, at least). The title “Everything Old Is News Again” is what you have been using on your most recent posts. So I am still as confused as ever about the current intent and agenda of this blog, given the crazy mix of subjects and rants that fill the posts these days.
You have the right to post whatever you want, in whatever confusing or disjointed format you choose. But your readers have the right to stop reading if they no longer find your content compelling or interesting.
Still, thanks for wishing me all the best, and the same back to you! I wish you success as you move ahead and hope your medical conditions and finances improve. Also, thanks for the offer of a free copy of your book, but no thanks. I have read enough and, “free” or not, I choose to read no more….

I think that Artie, who is in discomfort or pain most of the time, who usually has limited physical abilities, has tremendous patience to input anything at all. I forgive him his typos because I understand and empathize with his situation which is nearly incomprehensible. I know Artie doesn’t want sympathy. He just wants to be treated as he used to be…..a talented person with an independent mind and spirit. That hasn’t changed. Not all blogs or posts will be interesting to all people. You always have the option to skip over one that is of no interest to you. In his own way, Artie is an inspiration to many as well as a guilty pleasure to read.

I, too, was sent an email from “Hotmail”, asking for my info (including my password) if I wanted to continue getting my emails. I replied back “If this really is Hotmail, you already have my info. How do I know that you’re not trying to hack into my account?” (I sent this reply after receiving my second email from “Hotmail”). I haven’t gotten another email since. I always find your blog interesting work. Keep up the great work. Take care.
