PREMIER CARE OR PREMIER SCARE CENTER (PART TWO)

June 3, 2014

MOVIE

NO LONGER ABLE TO FINANCE MY PAINTING PROGRAM MYSELF, MY FACEBOOK FRIENDS DONATED MONEY FOR PAINT AND T-SHIRTS FOR THE RESIDENTS, AS WELL AS 325 DVDS WHICH WERE DONATED TO PREMIER FOR THEIR TWICE A WEEK MOVIE PROGRAMS. THE DONATIONS INCLUDED CLASSIC FILMS LIKE, “CASABLANCA”, “THE LAST TIME I SAW PARIS”, AND MODERN BLOCKBUSTERS LIKE, “FROZEN”, “HUNGER GAMES”, AND “ANCHORMAN 2″

THE ADMINISTRATORS SEEMED PLEASED WITH THE RESPONSE FROM THE RESIDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES, AND I THOUGHT IT WAS A POSITIVE STEP TOWARDS CHANGING THE PERCEPTION OF THE ARCHAIC SOMETIMES “HORRIFIC” WAYS NURSING HOMES WERE RUN. THEN THE EMPTY BED NEXT TO ME WAS FILLED BY ANOTHER ” HOSPICE” PATIENT, WHICH MEANS SOMEONE WHO’S BEEN BROUGHT INTO THE FACILITY TO DIE!

SKULLTHE FIRST NIGHT HE WAS THERE HIS MOANS AND CRYING KEPT ME AWAKE, BUT MY BEGGING TO HAVE HIM REMOVED FELL UPON DEAF EARS AND A WEEK LATER, AFTER A FEW “UNEARTHLY” GASPS AND GURGLES, HE MERCIFULLY PASSED AWAY…WHILE I LAY SHAKING IN THE WAKE. ONCE AGAIN NO ONE FROM THE FACILITY CAME TO MY PSYCHOLOGICAL RESCUE.

I KNOW PEOPLE LIKE THIS HAVE A RIGHT TO A PLACE TO DIE…BUT WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE EIGHT FEET AWAY FROM ME?

OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS THE BED NEXT TO ME HAS BECOME A REVOLVING DOOR OF DEATH, WITH THE BODY COUNT AT FIVE ( SO FAR).

AS I WAS FINISHING THIS ARTICLE I RAN INTO CHARLIE JENKINS, THE ADMINISTRATOR OF PREMIER CARE AND TOLD HIM ABOUT HORRORS THAT HAVE THRUST UPON ME. HE SAID, “HE’D LOOK INTO IT!”

I PRAY TO GOD THAT HE WILL…I CAN’T LAST MUCH LONGER LIKE THIS!

Joe Klein Artie this is horrible…..especially the part about the facility putting a string of dying patients in your room! This must be emotionally and spiritually devastating! I don’t know what to suggest to make things better. You’re pretty much caught between a rock and a hard place here. The government is paying all, or most, of the facility’s charges and trying to get them to act…..or withhold payments…..is probably impossible. Trying yourself to get action is filled with huge hurdles as well that you may not be able to conquer, as the facility most likely looks upon anything you want done to cost them money they don’t want to spend. And, finally (and maybe the worst of all) is if the employees and management of the facility feel threatened or challenged by your making all of this public online, there’s the frightening possibility of serious retribution against you, making matters even worse! Holey cow, this is just awful. What you need is a good friend to act as your care advocate who will try to get things done.

Arlene Lubman Brief A lawyer or Priest may be able to come and talk some sense into them. They need to go directly to the Administrator, no one else has the authority to do anything. And if need be, the State should be notified since all facilities are ultimately run by the State and they have very strict rules…and the last thing the facilities want are complaints made to the State. They are rated and these ratings are posted on the computer. When people are looking to place a family member into a home, more than likely they check out the ratings….Artie, you just need someone who knows how to talk well and can “make things happen”!
