As I sit and watch the world get older I suddenly feel older too. In 2010 Taylor Swift hit 21 and Justin Beiber hit one of his peers! While most people who are my age and have suffered similar disabilities are retired, I’ve geared up and started several new ventures on the internet.

As I reconnect with old friends on Facebook, and re-enter the arena of Art and Pop Music I see more opportunities now than there were back in the day. The general gripe I hear from my pals from the past that their lack of computer skills is preventing them from doing the same.

I say Bullshit! I can walk into a dark room, and click on a light switch and am able to see…without knowing how electricity works! I fortunately have friends who can help me out technically when I need it. I also have a popular blog, with over 1,780,000 hits, that I use as my platform to seek positive change and justice for all of us. Now it’s time to create a network of our generation who still want to be relevant, and we should call ourselves “The New Elders”.

At one time primitive tribes respected their oldest members and considered them to be the wisest…in today’s society being old is considered a liability!

Many of us “oldies but goodies” have proven abilities as well as untapped ones that could help our society, but most of us lack the desire to use them and become the New Elders.

The world as we know it is in the End of Days, but I this could be just the beginning!

If our society utilized all of our resources, especially the human ones, the positive spirit that dwells in our collective consciousness could turn our destiny around

Although I can no longer walk, I will continue to stand up for what I believe! The only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves, “and if you can only lift one finger you still can point the way!”

For the last eight weeks, since before Halloween, we’ve been celebrating the holiday season. People smiled a little more, were a little kinder, and a lot more thoughtful…but what about the day after Christmas?

There are some events and people you never forget…Clay Cole was one of them! He was always one of the few people in the industry who was more into the music than into the business…and a guy who always made you feel good about yourself

I met Clay when he had a show on WPIX-TV in New York, and I was producing Joey Powers “(Meet Me At) Midnight Mary” (Raleigh/ Wayne). Joey and I were working on his album on the weekend of November 22, 1963…

“In between the tracking and overdubbing sessions, Joey and I go down to WPIX TV, where Joey tapes the Clay Cole Dance show. Clay is old friend of Joeys’, who once worked with him as an NBC page. In between takes, the mood is dark and apprehensive, while we watch all the footage of the Kennedy assassination as it comes into the newsroom unedited.

As the surreal events unfold, I have images forever etched in my memory, including the entire 8mm Abraham Zapruder home movie clip of the Presidential Procession, in which the President is getting shot! The entire staff keeps watching the tape over and over again, getting more and more depressed. I don’t know how Clay managed to hold everything together…but he did.

Finally, we decided to call it a night, and arrange for Joey to come in the next day to finish up his segment with Clay.

It’s hard not to think about this history changing event, and stay positive the next day. As soon as Joey is finished lip synching “Midnight Mary”, and doing an interview with Clay, we all go into the control room. Everyone is crowded around a monitor and watch the assassination of alleged JFK killer, Lee Harvey Oswald, by Texas night club owner, Jack Ruby!

As we shook our heads wondering what was going to happen next, we all agreed on one thing…we all knew we’d never forget the last 48 hours”

I could never thank Clay enough when 46 years later he helped me recall those two days for my book, “I Did It For A Song”

May Clay Cole R.I.P. ROCK IN PERPETUITY

Respectfully, Artie Wayne http://artiewayne.com

For the last three years I’ve been writing my book about my 50 years in the music business. I was warned not to write about certain people, certain companies, and certain things which made me want to tell more.

As my blog became more popular with over 1,800,000 VIEWS, I began to get bolder and relentlessly went after large corporations and social networks until they discontinued some of their questionable practices.

I’m proud to have been the first to write about Tommy James’ shocking book, “ME, THE MOB, AND THE MUSIC” and have an exclusive no-holds barred three part interview with my pal from the past and former label mate…probably the only such event where the participants didn’t have to go into the witness protection program right after the show!

In my book, “I DID IT FOR A SONG”, I write about my first hand experiences songwriting (Aretha, Michael Jackson,Tony Orlando, Cher, etc.) producing (the Kingsmen, The Shirelles, the Guess Who) and getting hits for Warner Brothers Music (“You’re 16″, “R+R Heaven”) and Irving/ Almo music (“I Honestly Love You”, “Our Day Will Come”).

I share my private stories about, Carole King, MORRIS LEVY, Neil Bogart, The BEATLES, Jimi Hendrix, SCOTT SHANNON, Eagles, MICHAEL JACKSON, Bert Berns, Alan Freed, BOBBY DARIN, Brian Wilson, PAUL WILLIAMS, Murray The K, TOMMY JAMES and the Shondells, Olivia Newton-John, HERB ALPERT, JERRY MOSS, Don Kirshner, RICK JAMES, Rolling Stones, ELLIE GREENWICH, Clive Davis, Barrry White, DAVID GEFFEN, Marvin Gaye, QUINCY JONES, The Rolling Stones, DAVID BOWIE, Phil Spector, AND DOZENS MORE!

During a recent health crisis when I was feeling sorry for myself, I reconnected with “Lezlie Sokol” my pal from the past, who’s staging a giant reunion of former patrons of the legendary Troubadour in Hollywood.

As we caught up on each others lives, I discovered that she is a remarkable artist and photographer and was immediately uplifted when I saw her digitally color enhanced series of clouds. As I dove into her collection, I realized that these were the kind of images I wanted to use in one of my Ambient Music Videos with a song I wrote in honor of my Grandmother, who was one of biggest influences in my life.

“Go on boy, you can do it! It’s only life there’s nothing to it…

Just the seeing through it “FROM THE INSIDE”

Although there have been 15 cover versions of the song including Cilla Black, Lynn Anderson, Marilyn McCoo, and Yvonne Elliman, I’m using my favorite version which is a demo that Art Munson and I recently produced with a star of the future Ms. Janelle Sadler.

Brilliant videographer Wedigo Watson put it all together and here it is for you all to enjoy!
