Now that I’m going after the bad guys in the music business, The only thing that can keep me safe now is transparency, so I private messaged 100 of my FACEBOOK friends, and told them who the perpetrators might be in the event something happens to me.
It’s funny how many people have been screwed by the same people I have who like my idea of a CLASS ACTION AUDIT of record and publishing companies, but are afraid of retaliation.

My songwriter heart wants to believe that everyone is honest & forthright. But there have been tens of thousands of illegal downloads of Undercover Angel, a guy in Korea is illegally marketing my EH Morris demo album, and the descendants of my record company in the 70’s (who did quite well off my two million selling hit), have somehow forgotten that they owe me royalties as an artist.
So I extend kudos to you, as well as NSAI (http://www.nashvillesongwriters.com/), AFTRA (http://www.aftra.com/) and others who have taken a stand to get us what we are due. In fact, I’d like to see a comprehensive list of those people & organizations who are actively supporting songwriters’ rights. Including ARTIE WAYNE ON THE WEB!

Terrif article on Artie, who I’ve known for umpteen years and we go back far enough so that he stayed at my flat in London and I at his apartment in L.A. What he says about the music industry re the ‘negative’ side, is unfortunately too true. Yes there ar lots of really good people working in music, and also enoughjerks, out-and-out thieves and no-talent bean counters to make you wonder if you’d have been better off breeding ostriches or being a mortician… Artie was there from the getgo, has pretty much seen and done it all and you can take what he wrote as gospel. And by the way, his book is a terrific read and if you haven’t read it, put it on your Christmas list. There’s no doubt that Artie is the basis of that old joke about the two guys appearing on the balcony in Vatican Square with thousands of tourists looking on, and one says to the other, “Who are those two guys”?. The other tourist replies, “I don’t know who the dude in the robes is, but the other one is Artie Wayne”! What happened to Artie, happened to me, the ‘culprits’ being 2 of the biggest global record companies. I did take them on and yes, it took years, but I won in the end. It was NOT fun, but it was necessary. So should Artie take on the “Whaddya mean we owe you money” industry prevaricators again…absolutely!

Just talked about this Friday night here in London. The creators are adamant about intellectual property being honored while others were not. It is fascinating that when it isn’t one’s personal issue, they don’t care. I wonder how they’d respond with no music in the world? Apathy abounds.

Artie, how wonderful of Dawn Lee Wakefield to take up your cause with such passion and help you with your fight. Her latest installment on your fight with those who owe you money was a great read and will garner more advocates to your cause.

Artie, If every living artist or thier heirs, would simply go after the Millions owed them, this problem would go away. But as many of you were young, Talented but not business people, you were unaware until much later the hosing you took with a trustng smile. Get your personal contacts together, call them & simply remember there is power in numbers.
