Back in 1966, when I was recording for SMASH records my producers Stanley Kahan and Gary Sherman invited me to series of what are now considered historic radio and TV commercials they were producing for Coca-Cola.
They would create one minute exact duplicates of current hit records with the original artists, and at the end of each track would use the tag line, “IT‘S THE REAL THING” in the style of the recording replicated.
I watched Cissy Houston, of the Sweet Inspirations who was adding a background part to one of Aretha’s hits, keep one eye on her lead sheet and the other on her little daughter Whitney, who was quietly roaming around the studio.
Even then she had an aura about her, a special indefinable quality along with a GOD-GIVEN voice of an angel that she was always able to tap into throughout her troubled public life.
As long as there is a Valentine’s Day, “I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU’ will be an everlasting tribute to Whitney Houston and the love she shared with the entire world!
Whitney Houston R.I.P. May you ROCK IN PERPETUITY!
Respectfully, Artie Wayne

Artie,
I share your sadness at the tragic loss of such an unfinished life. Over & over again, the message from these losses comes home to me: All the fame and outward success in the world is hollow if you don’t have peace & joy in your personal life.
I hope Whitney has finally found that now.

It’s hard for me to comment other than this incident speaks volumes to the fragility of great artists. Only the good die young.

Wedigo Watson…Very Sad !
Florence Gray…Tragic loss of a beautiful, talented woman.
Barbara Alford Jones…Thank you for sharing your memories of Cissy’s “little girl” roaming the studios… that is so poignant now. Artie, you are a treasure! Thanks again
Greg Stern…Pretty Cool Artie…When is it that the innocence falls, Reality becomes jaded, and life no longer has value like it once did? These amazingly gifted people get caught up in the web of destruction? I loved Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. There is no doubt in my mind that God put them on this planet to impact the world with their amazing talents! And they of course did exactly what they were meant to do! Tomorrow is not promised and no matter who you are, what you have, and who you are connected to you must still make conscious choices and deal with the consequences alone in your life……That being said, I’d like to hear your thoughts and opinion as to why so many end up like this?
Respectfully, Greg Stern
Artie Wayne GREG…I THINK IT BEGINS WHEN PEOPLE AROUND YOU STOP SAYING NO AND LET YOU DO WHATEVER YOU WANT.
Herbert Maton…So shocked when I first heard the news. RIP!
Greg Stern Artie- I don’t think you think that, I think you “KNOW” That! I agree with you 100%. It’s true for athletes, musicians, atists, owners, Executives, etc…. Tough love like you would give your children! Instead of as a mentor, advisor, coach agent, etc…Looking at it as “What can I get out of this” why not how can I help by not exploiting but directing, helping, advising, truthfully, honesty, and with Integrity. Very fundamental but probably why we have so much going wrong with the Govt., Music Industry, Movie Industry, Educations system, all the way down to th family. Somebody is always on the take. It’s either I exploit you or you exploit me and it hasn’t changed since the beginning of time. Sad really but in dire need of change. Thanks for reading or listening to my Rant
Respectfully, Greg Stern
Mark Volman…And another word, wasted.
