The first time I met Randy Newman was when he was about to release, “SAIL AWAY”. I was representing him at Warner Brothers Music and I was livid that that during the civil rights movement that someone would put out a record that glorified the slave trade in Africa! After I finished my tirade in producer Lenny Warnoker’s office, he and Randy looked at each other and laughed hysterically. Lenny said, “See I told you that everyone wouldn’t know that your song is a satire”

Since then I’ve listened to Randy’s songs with a special ear.
